VV Bowtie

I Looooooove bow ties on boys. They are so adorable! I especially love them on my boyfriend, he just looks so cute in them! So... when the Vineyard Vines bow ties went on sale on Zappos, I bought him one, of-course! Being a VIP member of Zappos is definitely one of my favorite things. Ever. 1-day business shipping free and special deals are just a few of the perks. If you don't use Zappos, you should!!

This is the one I got him! It was like 15-20$ (they're regularly $45) so it was a steal. I'm hoping he'll wear it on monday :). Since its been at my house as I keep forgetting to give it to him, I figured i'd learn how to tie it. I'm hoping it will come in handy in college in a sorority!

It took me a couple tries but I think I have it down! It really is just like a normal bow but a little more complicated. I looked up a few tutorials on YouTube and after getting the gist of it, I just started practicing until I figured it out! Yay new skills!

Can y'all tie a bow tie?

Monogram Obsessed

I ordered a pack of 8 1 inch monogram stickers from a site on Etsy a couple weeks ago and they came yesterday! So far I have them on my Lilly Planner and my new fat Camelbak! I'm planning on putting them on all of my new school supplies as soon as I go this weekend... If I ever do get a few hours away from Pope and babysitting that is!

Laptop Love

I've had my little white macbook for 5 years now, and I love it. We got it from my brothers friend for super cheap. After this computer, I can never see myself going back to a PC. But.. until recently I hadn't really liked the whole stickers-on-laptop thing. But Awkward made me like it a little more, I do really like Jenna's old laptop. ( I can't find a picture but if you've seen the show its from before christmas) These are the stickers I have on mine!

This is on the inside, yes its cracked a bit from where i've slammed it shut a few times... But I love this monogram! I got it from a little shop on Etsy for $2!

This is the outside. The life is good and Kavu stickers I have from my LIG tire cover and from my many Kavu things. The Kavu sticker is peeling off and i'm hoping the wallet I just ordered from them includes a new one... High Country Outfitters is a cool out-doorsey shop near me that has the cutest stuff! They have free stickers so I always grab a few when i'm in there. The blue and orange one is my favorite! The wag more bark less sticker is from the Atlanta Humane Society where I volunteered with boyfriend and I love it! But not nearly as much as I love my puppies :)

Do ya'll have any stickers on your laptop?

Favorite Face Washes

I've had acne since about 5th grade, and I tried everything under the sun to make it go away. Well, now i'm 17 and its gone, but the scars aren't. So, in efforts to keep it away (even the occasional pimple) and try to get rid of this scarring little by little, these are my all time favorite face washes. I use one in the morning and one at night, and I switch depending on the season and how dry my skin is feeling.

My number one favorite face wash EVER.
1.) Aveeno Smart Essentials
Seriously, obsessed. I use it every night during the summer because it washes away all the sweat and grime and nasty stuff from living in the wonderful south. It has such an amazing earthy smell that i'm always telling my mom to smell my face :). Bonus! I found out about it because my mom did a survey online for Target and they sent us a bunch of free samples of makeup and face wash and this was in there, I fell in love!

2.) Clean and Clear Deep Action CREAM Cleanser

I prefer this one for the more wintery months because its creamy so its more of a moisturizer, and i typically add some Gold Bond lotion on after. I would never use this in the summer because it goes on really thick and I don't want that when i'm all hot and I just want to feel refreshed. I would also not recommend it for morning washes because it does tend to leave my face a little red and I don't want to start my day that way!

3.) Clean and Clear Morning Energy Scrub

I know you have all seen that silly commercial where the girl comes down and the music is playing and her roommate tells her to use this to wake her up... corny I know. But true. I use this in the shower in the mornings and the bursting beads really explode on my face with the heat and it really does wake you up feeling energetic and it smells good too! I love all 3 sents but my favorite is the orange.

What are y'alls favorite face washes? What's your morning routine?

Merh...Summer Reading

If you're in highschool now... or you once were. I'm sure you remember the dreaded summer reading. Maybe it isn't necessarily that the books are horrible, but more the thought of doing school work when i'd rather be on the beach reading something like 50 shades of grey... Anyways, next year (or really less than a week away) i'm taking AP Lit, which is requiring a few many books... But, on the bright side, no projects or essays or anything! My boyfriend, taking Honors Lit, only has to read 2 books, but he has to write essays on them, so I win this one. :)

One of the 3 is the classic Catch-22
I'm about 150 pages in, and it isn't horrible. But it is a satire, which I don't to really well with... to me it is a book about the ranting of war and a collection of anecdotes from horrible war things. I feel like all I have done so far is learn about some made up man, Washington Irving/Irving Washington, and learn about people faking sick all the time. Overall, I dont recommend it, but it isn't horrible if you must read it. However, a little bonus, because my mom is cheap, I bought it off Amazon and it came pre-annotated, Yay :)

Next, I have Death of a Salesman
I'm more of about 15 pages into this one so far, but what I understand from the kids last year, it is 100 pages of death in its own. The first 15 pages are about the literal/metaphorical death of this salesman and his perfect life with his wife.

Lastly, the book I have yet to even start...Wise Blood. To me, the title sounds like it should be something like Shutter Island, or something that has to do with the forest and hiking and boring. However, it is apparently about religion, and not at all a satire. So we'll see.

I do plan on finishing all 3 by next Monday... I really do! but that doesn't always mean I will... we'll see how productive i'm really feeling over the next 2 days.

If you've read any of the 3 and have any tips for getting through, please let me know!!

Blueberry Lemon Cookies

I have quite the sweet tooth. As does my boyfriend, brother, dad and mom. So typically, when I come across recipes like this, I expect them to be devoured. And, as usual, I was correct. However, my mom and I like to change recipes to make them a little healthier, and sometimes it makes things amazing and other times they are horrible and inedible. And, as my dad is diabetic, one of the main things I reduce is typically oil or butter.

This recipe calls for 1 cup butter. Meaning 2 sticks. Meaning Paula Dean levels of butter. And I just refuse to believe that a cookie really needs that much fat in it. So, being typical me, I cut it in half.  And seeing as there is only one left from the 36 I made this morning, i'd say it was a success. While I have not made the original, and I also cut out the cream cheese (i'm not a fan), the texture was much more cakey. The recipe calls for 3 cups a flower and to my 1/2 cup of butter and 1 egg, it was bound to happen. But they were not too lemoney or overly sweet and would make the perfect coffee cookie or tea cookie. The recipe was very easy to follow and absolutely delicious. I will be making them again soon in the VERY near future. :)

Glitter Galore

I was surfing pinterest a few days ago and came across this picture... and I fell instantly in love.

There was no source page attached, only the picture. I'd heard that you could mix glitter in Emler's glue and it would dry clear but because of my love for mogepodge, I thought i'd give it a try with that instead. I got a bottle of $1.30 glitter and my mogepodge and sponge brushes out.

Mixing glitter with mogepodge isn't the easiest thing, its thick and clumpy and difficult to spread and after I put it on it looked horrible. But, I trust the stuff and decided to give it some time to dry. Luckily it turned out amazingly. Not quite as nicely as the picture above but pretty close! The glitter does come off pretty easily, but seeing as I only move it for sleepovers, not a big deal and it is very cute. And keeps my brother from stealing it.

Monogram Craze

I am beyond normal obsessed with things monogrammed. If it were up to me, everything I own would be monogrammed... just a few things

Bathing suit top- Thank you Marley Lilly
Cute PFG for my fishing days, thank you Kudzu (my new favorite embroiderer)
and of course my new body pillow cover from my amazing boyfriend
You might notice there is also a huge monogram in the background... that was one of my latest projects. I love vinyl decals and would put them on everything, but seeing as I don't have the printer or the paper or the want to spend $30 for a sticker that big, I took my $2 bottle of acrylic blue paint and my love for circle script and went to work.

Using this template, I just drew out my monogram a few times on a piece of paper until I was satisfied.

I used a pencil to then trace it out behind my bed (I know it isn't perfect, believe me) and started painting. I used sponge brushes as they made it easier to make a good line on the thicker parts and a small brush for the smaller parts of the letters. I'd say i'm pretty proud of it. And I also added a new monogram to my collection :)

Cork Board to Chalk Board

So the other day I came cross this cute thing on Pinterest, a Chalkboard Circle. I currently have a cork board with post-its as a calendar, however with this Georgia heat, they tend to fly and be not efficient at all. I thought it was a cool idea but for $68 I thought I could make it. Turns out, I can. However, no circles and its just not as cute. But I spent only about $8, so considering I saved at least $60 (before shipping) i'd say it turned out pretty well! Heres my step-by-step on my new chalkboard month.

Materials
1.) Chalkboard spray paint (I don't recommend but this is what i used) or regular paint (I've heard much better things about it, but hey I was lazy with a coupon4
2.) Painters tape- my mother swears by the green frog kind, so we had this laying around the house.
3.) Chalk $1 at Michaels
4.) Acrylic Paint + brushes in case you screw up, as I did. About $4 for both.

First, my boyfriend and I tried to make the circles with a syrophome circle (HORRIBLE IDEA, but maybe not with the real paint. BAAAD with spray) and it turned out horrible. it drips all over the place and just doesnt dry perfect or go on easily. (sorry, no pictures. it was that bad).

So, what we actually did is take the painters tape and measure out squares, 7 wide and 5 tall for 7 days and 5 weeks and then a box on the top for the month.

We then began the first attempt at spraying the wall... FAIL. majorly. it dripped, I tried to not let it bother me. We left for about 4 hours and came back and it was dry and the horrible spray paint smell was also gone. After peeling off the tape we were left with quite a mess. SO.. being the innovator I am, I knew I had some blue acrylic left from painting my monogram (another post) and decided to try to make a border and paint in-between to fix the mess. Amazing idea.

So I took more painters tape (ended up using an entire roll) and made a 2 inch border starting where it looked bad around the edges. I painted it the blue and it turned out quite well.

After the border, I did painters tape horizontally across each row to paint over where the spray sprayed outside the lines. Worked amazing.

I did the same vertically and pulled it all of.

Added the things im doing this week (also made sure it would erase) and now i have a great chalk board to replace my cork board!
